Every note Sierra sings is beautiful, and was the prefect choice for the 25th Anniversary and the sequel (although many did not like the story-line, it doesn't change the fact that her voice was superb). Sarah Brightman used to be, but not anymore. Not only is she impeccable singer, she is a wonderful actress and dancer. Sierra is the perfect "Chrissy" for me and thanks to her, I need a Phantom rehab. Not to mention that she is also as pretty as her voice. Every note that she sings perfectly depict the emotion. Her voice has the perfect balance of being angelic and powerful at the same time. The very first time I fell in love with her voice is when I saw her title song performance at the 2012 Classic Brit Awards. I personally think that if there is someone who is perfect to assume the role of Christine after Brightman, that is her. Sierra is vocals, looks and acting skills in one combined. She makes Christine seem strong, and yet vulnerable. Sierra, on the other hand, has a very powerful voice, yet it is sweet. But she put in a fantastic performance for her age. Her singing was breathy, and, especially on the a cappella runs on the end of "Think Of Me", she was off on quite a few notes. It is amazing that Emmy could even sing the part as well as she did. And, as all people who are musically informed know, a female singer's voice is at its best when she is around 30 years old. Sierra was around 29 when she played the part. There can be no comparison, especially if you think about their ages. Many people compare her to Emmy Rossum, who sang the role in the 2005 movie. Her voice is always true, always perfect. She has the range to achieve the highest notes without sounding like she is grasping blindly for them. Sierra is my favorite Christine, and she's the best in my book.Ĭontrary to what others may say, every note that Sierra sings is perfectly on key. It's amazing how when she sings, she doesn't just tell the tale that surrounds the song, she lets you experience it as well. Her high notes are music to my ears, and her singing can easily evoke my rawest of emotions at once. Add the fact that her portrayal is exactly how I imagine Christine in the novel (irrespective of how she was described there).Īlso, Sierra has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.
When she's onstage, she's a completely different person. She becomes one with it and then adds her own twist without straying away from the core of the character.
She doesn't act for the sake of living up to what people wanted to see, but to breathe life into the character itself. Every time I watch her in Phantom (or LND), it always feels as if she was born to play the role. Sierra has this charming innocence about her that makes her Christine endearing.
